If you are in Lagos on a visit or on business trip, or if you live in this city, why not consider worshipping with us?
We understand that it can be challenging to move into a new environment not knowing what to expect, and finding a church where you will feel welcome and where things will be relatively familiar can be very important.
On this page we have answered a few of the questions first-time guests might want to know before visiting us. If you still have further questions concerning the church or Christian issues in general, do not hesitate to call Pastor Gary: 0808-726-6310, or drop an email to:

God bless you!

| How can i locate the church? What is the church? |
New Beginnings International Church is worshipping in a temporary location, and the facilities are GREAT! We are at the Lekki Conservation Center, kilometer 19, on the Lekki Expressway. Lekki Peninsula stretches out for fifty miles to the east of Victoria Island. Heading east from VI travel along the Lekki Expressway to the Chevron roundabout and go ¼ mile further, to the first road on the right. That is the entrance to the Lekki Conservation Center, directly opposite the Chevron compound. Enter the gate, and the worship center is immediately in front of you. |
| Do you have a packing space for cars? Is my car safe? |
The Lekki Conservation Center is a well-known tourist attraction, and there is very adequate parking and very adequate security. |
| After church service, what next? Go home? |
At New Beginnings International Church there is always time for snacks and refreshments and plenty of Christian fellowship after the morning service. As you get to know the NBIC family you will also no doubt find warm fellowship outside of worship times and in more relaxed settings in nearby restaurants and private homes. |
| Do you have classes for children? Who are their teachers? What facilities do you have in there? |
Our children and our youth are very important to us at New Beginnings International Church. Volunteer teachers from among the adults teach various levels of children’s classes, and there are Sunday school rooms for that purpose in adjoining buildings. Children are always welcome at NBIC, and parents are welcome to check out the facilities and get involved themselves. |
| Are my children welcome? If my children need my attention while I am in the service, how do I know? Do I need to worry about the children's welfare? |
New Beginnings has a congregational government. The ultimate authority is the congregation, which is governed by a constitution and whose single biggest responsibility is the selection of a pastor. The pastor serves as the principle administrator for the congregation, and is the chairman of the Pastoral Advisory Council (PAC) team. Annual elections (usually in January) determine the call or re-call of the pastor. The pastor is assisted by the PAC team, consisting of a secretary, a treasurer, and four other deacons. The PAC team meets monthly, or more frequently as needed. Sunday school teachers, house fellowship leaders, youth leaders, etc., provide additional leadership for the church as needed. |
| How do I see the pastor at a short notice? |
Both Pastor Gary and his wife Emma Lou are very accessible to the people of New Beginnings International Church, as well as to other expats who may require their assistance or counsel. They live within a half mile of the NBIC worship center, and circulate regularly throughout the week between Lekki, Victoria Island and Ikoyi. If you would like a visit from either or both of them send an email ( GMAfrica@aol.com or EmmaAfrica@aol.com), or phone (0808-726-6310). |
| Do you fellowship during the week? |
Our Sunday morning worship and Sunday school time (9:30 – 11:00) is our main time to get together every week, and that is where and when you can usually find most all of us, unless our jobs or vacation time have taken us out of town. However, there are numerous voluntary activities during the week, including house fellowship meetings, Bible studies and other discipleship activities. Check them out and you might find something exciting that you would want to engage in on a weekly basis! |
| How can I help the church? What are the facilities you need that i can help with? What will you expect me to do at NIBC? |
New Beginnings is a place where everyone is encouraged to discover their spiritual gifts and put them into use. If you have experience or training in any area that can enhance the body of Christ we urge you to make it known and GET INVOLVED! We need singers, musicians, teachers, administrators, IT specialists, counselors, social workers, etc. |
| If I have a suggestion, or I have a reason to complain, to whom can I go? |
We would love to hear from you! Contact Pastor Gary at GMAfrica@aol.com, or speak to any of the deacons at any of our meetings. |
| What kinds of music will I hear at NIBC? |
Music at NBIC is very important. As a new church we are feeling our way to discover the best way to encourage God’s people to make a joyful noise to the Lord! There are a half-dozen singers and musicians who are currently helping us sing both familiar hymns and also some of the best contemporary songs and choruses. |
| What kinds of sermons will I hear at NIBC? |
Sometimes the sermons are pretty lousy, but the people usually smile anyway. Other times they are so-so. Actually we wrote this answer to see if anyone even reads these pages. If you have, well, come and see for yourself! One thing is sure: it will definitely be something from the Bible. |
| When do you celebrate Holy Communion? |
We celebrate Holy Communion on a monthly basis, usually on the first Sunday of the month. |
| How long does your services takes? |
NBIC is an international church, so we have a habit of beginning promptly on time, at 9:30 am, and we say the last “amen” by 11:00. After some great fellowship usually everyone is on their way home not later than 11:30. |
| I want my child/children dedicated, what should I do? |
Talk with Pastor Gary about this. We love children at NBIC and child dedication is important to us. |
